I want to let you all know the policy on in-between tours. Our league is not an every hour league. Our regular schedule is every 2 hours, on the half hour. Due to the extreme slow play lately, it is really hard to get an in-between tour going. I know it really sux, if you are out in 1st round of a regularly scheduled tour, and then you have to wait an hour and a half or more, for another tourney, but with the games taking so long making the tours go to the limit in length, it is hard to do the even half hour tours which we call in-between tours.
When a regularly scheduled tour runs up to an hr and half, setting an in-between tour, getting it up and running so it is done before the next regularly scheduled tour is a challenge. Therefore, the TD's are aware, no in-between tours should be set unless there is time, enough jumpers, and it is closed and started before 15 of the hour. This is a must, because starting the 530pm at 10 till 6 because an in-between tour was set and it was not a quick game, or play was slow ...well that is just unacceptable. It is not fair to the people that jumped to sit and wait for the tour to start. I do appreciate, the times this has happened, that the majority of wickeds are very good sports about it. THANK YOU to those people.
Playing quicker is one way of having more tours set per day. Play as of late has been sometimes excruciatingly slow. Sometimes, it is due to someones connection. There is not much anyone can do about that. I sometimes get a lag myself, and it is aggravating. So I ask everyone to have some patience, if someone has a bad connection. If you are lagging, and are aware of it, or made known "POLITELY" you are, sometimes reloading the table, or reloading Emerald Isle helps. If it is a big lag, take a 10 minute clock and reboot. If it is so bad sometimes dq'ing from the tour is necessary, so everyone is not held up. I am sure that your fellow wickeds would greatly appreciate it. I myself dq'd from a tour the other day, because I kept losing connection to my net. It saved me and im sure the TD and other players much aggravation! lol There are times though, it is someones health, or a physical disability that makes someone play slow. So even though a slow game can be aggravating, just remember, you do not know what is going on behind that person's screen.
Sometimes it is due to people multitasking, IM'ing, gabbing in the lobby, gabbing at the table, and they are not very good multitaskers. No one wants to play like robots. No one is asking anyone to do that. No, we are not rated where it is all business, and no talk, but talk and play your card. Do not stop play to type what you are typing. Play your card timely, and type in-between. lol I will add, that getting upset or irate because someone takes a second to play their card won't be tolerated. We are here to have some fun and yes talk, although keep the game moving at a reasonable rate. If you want all play no talk, go play rated. There are people that complain about slow game play, but the TD has to call them 10 times to the table. That is also a factor in a tour running long. You should be present and paying attention for your name to be called, and set the table or sit at the table, promptly when your name is called. So there are all different factors that make a tour run long. Someone talking in lobby is not the only reason.
To put it in a nutshell, no we are not going to be robots and all play no talk. We might as well go play rated for that. If you want a fast fast game I suggest, that you do go play rated. I feel sometimes. people are pressed for time, but jump anyway, then expect everyone to fly through the games and tourney. If your pressed for time.... do not jump. In saying that though, on the flip side of that, tour games shouldn't be held up from someone gabbing on IM or the lobby, or being distracted at home, just some examples. Lets keep the tour games moving at a "reasonable" rate. If your not a good mulitasker, I suggest play first then talk. If you got a bad connection reload table or room and try to fix it. Have some patience though, with someone that is lagging.
I would also like to suggest that people ladder more often in lieu of an in-between tour, when there just is not enough time for one, or not a TD available to set one, or enough jumpers for one. Laddering is a good way to move up on the ladder. For those of you who do not know what a ladder is.. it is a game between 2 members, using bots as ps. The loser, reports the match. You get 2 bux for reporting a ladder match. So, you may lose the match but you get some bux for it..lol To report a ladder loss, the link is above, under The Ladder .. Report Ladder Loss. It is a cases link, so you must log in, if your not logged in to cases already. A log in page wil come up, you just put your ladder name and password in. Then on the form, you type your opponents correct ladder name. It is good to ask your opp what is your full ladder name, since some members have their ladder names shortened, and it is not exactly their pogo name. Type your opps ladder name then click report loss. There is even a box to type a note in if you want.
You may also double ladder. Which is fun. 4 members go to a table. Decide who is reporting to who. You can even ladder using a gimmick as the game. As long as everyone at the table agrees on the game. Losers report to the person they were designated to report to. You can ladder the same person TWICE a day, so at that table you can get 4 games in if you report to a different person twice.
Laddering is fun. No one HAS to ladder. We do not force anyone here to ladder, but wickeds in the "old days" laddered all the time. This passed the time in between tours. Why you will often see an older wicked ask "Anyone want to ladder? " The top 10 is technically supposed to ladder if asked, but we haven't been that competitive of a league for a long time. Most in the top 10, are there from jumping and winning tours. I don't advise any of you to get "vicious" lol over the ladder. We are here for fun, but laddering is a cool way to move up the ladder and pass the time between tours. If you are in a ladder, before a tour that you registered in, and the tour starts and you are called before you ladder is finished, take note of the score, and finish the ladder after the tourney. Do not hold up the tour to finish the ladder. You will be clocked whether your in a ladder or not. It is probably not good to start a ladder too close to tour time.
So..now you can go pee and get another drink...lol Stay wicked all Lil
I just wanted to add ..some wonder what will i lose if i ladder...on Wicked page under the Ladder tab is rank calculator...you can put in your rank and your Opps rank and see how it will affect you on the ladder if you win or lose...Sometimes losing to someone that is low on the ladder wont affect your rank...so check it out .
