I recently just got done playing in a tourney where the host never verified the table to be correct and after I called trump the table setter realized what they had done wrong and quit the game.
I believe there should be a penalty for not getting the table right. I could see if the setter realized it right away but we were in the middle of a hand.
If you click on all my rules link, in all my tours, the league play rules are located there. The third rule down... Please wait for gtg from host before starting.... The table setter should not start the game until the gtg is given...at least in a perfect world..lol This is not a perfect world...so hense mistakes happen...people set the table wrong...jump the gun and hit start before the gtg is given... TD's miss a wrong setting...and good hands go out the window. Thankfully, it does not happen often, but yes it does happen. All you can do is just move on from it, and never forget this IS just a game, and no one is perfect. I do not feel a penalty should be insued for a mistake, that any one of us can make., and I do not think you would appreciate being penalized yourself for either you or your P accidently setting wrong...or the TD missing the wrong setting. I have done over 2500 tours and occassionally...I miss a table being set wrong.
Everyone can help out the setter and the TD, by checking the table before you sit. That is one more pair of eyes...to catch a mistake in setting. I know Webby has saved my rear end a few times. It suxs to have to lose a really good hand, but things happen to us all. I have gave the TD's some suggestions to help with this, and as I said, it does not happen often.
That is exactly why it is sooo important that the table setter gets a GTG from the host before the 1st hand is even played. It is everyones responsibility to make sure the table is GTG. If the host is busy, someone should politely ask in lobby if the table is Good To Go before they start play. This will help avoid the situation in the future....
